British Tourists Rush Home From Portugal Ahead of New Quarantine
Thousands of Britons scrambled to leave over the weekend, even paying extra to rebook flights, in an effort to beat the Tuesday deadline for a new quarantine order Britain imposed on those returning from Portugal.
We had to change our flights because we weren’t able to quarantine. So we’re on the earlier flight, which has been exceptionally expensive to change all our tickets. But luckily, we managed to secure some tickets on the flight. We only arrived and then we had to leave, so we haven’t had a holiday. Well, I’m angry that I’ve missed part of our holiday, and it cost us a lot more money to go home. Just to beat the quarantine. Because we’re both self-employed and another 10 days at home, we don’t earn any money. So we’ve got to pay and go home. We didn’t have an option.
